Vampire Academy Movie Review

You know what's the first thing that came into my mind when I saw the trailer and poster for Vampire Academy?
"OMG. A Chic Flick Vampire Show! YAY!" and I happily dragged my boyfriend to catch it with me cause I was so excited about it being a stupid and funny Vampire Movie with alot of Girly drama.
But boy was I wrong.

Vampire Academy (PG)
Based on author Richelle Mead's worldwide bestselling series, VAMPIRE ACADEMY tells the legend of Rose Hathaway (Zoey Deutch) and Lissa Dragomir (Lucy Fry), two 17-year-old girls who attend a hidden boarding school for Moroi (mortal, peaceful Vampires) and Dhampirs (half-vampire/half human guardians).
Rose, a rebellious Guardian-in-training and her best friend, Lissa - a royal vampire Princess - have been on the run when they are captured and returned to St.Vladamirs Academy, the very place where they believe their lives may be in most jeopardy.
Thrust back into the perils of Moroi Society and high school, Lissa struggles to reclaim her status while Rose trains with her mentor and love-interest, Dimitri (Danila Kozlovsky), to guarantee her place as Lissa's guardian.
Rose will sacrifice everything to protect Lissa from those who intend to exploit her from within the Academy walls and the Strigoi (immortal, evil vampires) who hunt her kind from outside its sanctuary.
Genre: Drama
Running Time: 105 minutes
Release Date: 27th Feb 2014

Doesn't sound so boring anymore right?
Okay first's thing first. I SO DID NOT KNOW THAT IT WAS A BOOK. I mean the entire marketing strategy for this movie was like the next funny mean girl - vampire version. The poster looks like a cheesy chick flick but you really have to trust me on this, VAMPIRE ACADEMY WAS OMG SO GOOD. Its NOTHING like Twilight, NOTHING like Vampire Diaries or Teen wolf.
What I really liked about Vampire Academy was how refreshing it is to actually categorise vampires into Moroi and Strigoi and I find it extremely interesting that vampires in this movie actually requires guardian protection. Okay I'm a hardcore Vampire, Werewolf drama freak and I adore Vampire Diaries and Teen Wolf because its getting really damn interesting but everytime, the ones with supernatural powers are the strongest and are the ones who have to protect the annoying little screamy chicks. So having the supernatural not the alpha race anymore was pretty interesting.
Rose Hathaway was really really funny too. Her whole tough chick portrayal was awesome and I really like her as a character. She wasn't some defenceless girl who can't protect herself and whose constantly waiting on others to protect her so no she is so NOT annoying. But I really really like her with Dimitri like just get together and forget all that guardian crap but stories are stories - they make your blood boil.

I've selected a few more stills from Vampire Academy just for you and pssst...I think Zoey Deutch is totally hot and she's awesome as Rose Hathaway. But WAITTT! Lets see how CHARMING Dimitri aka Danila Kozlovsky is before the stills okay?
The movie does him no justice at all. *sighhhh...
Okay sorry here are more stills from Vampire Academy!

From the bottom of my heart, Vampire Academy is drop dead awesome. So if you are hesitating to catch this movie, don't. Just watch it. I can't wait for the sequel already :D

'The Lego Movie' Review

I've caught 'The Lego Movie' ages ago and if you have yet to catch it, I highly suggest you to before its out of the theatres!

I think it was a really funny and cute movie but HONESTLY, i think the ending sucked. The entire storyline was really interesting if it was just about LEGO themselves like how Barbie movies are - its an entire movie about them, but nooo, they had to come up with something else to twist the storyline and I really really hated it. I thought it was completely uncalled for and lame. Well, the last 15mins of the movie was lame, to me at least.

The Lego Movie (G)
This original 3D computer-animated story follows Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO mini figure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared.
Genre: Family/Comedy
Running Time: 100 minutes
Release Date: 6 February 2014

There really isn't anything much to say about The Lego Movie cause its just really cute and whimsical and honestly, anyone can understand it so enjoy the stills you're about to see! ;)

'The Awkward Moment' Movie Review

First off, lets start this post with Zac Efron's amazing bod.
For all the ladies out there, trust me, this movie is totally worth it because you get to see Zac Efron's amazing bod for like i-can't-even-remember times.

The Awkward Moment (M18)
Zac Efron, Michael B. Jordan and Miles Teller star in the R-rated comedy about three best friends who find themselves where we have all been—at that confusing moment in every dating relationship when you have to decide “So…Where is this going?”

Jason (Zac Efron) and Daniel (Miles Teller) are living a carefree single life in New York City when their best friend Mikey (Michael B. Jordan) learns his wife wants a divorce. In a show of support, the three longtime buddies promise each other that they will avoid commitment at all costs and stay single together, but their plans are derailed when Mikey starts to surreptitiously date his ex, and Jason and Daniel unexpectedly fall in love. Soon each man finds himself at the most crucial point in a relationship, a moment when “so…” becomes the most terrifying word in the English language.

Written and directed by Tom Gormican (Movie 43), That Awkward Moment is about the vulnerability and embarrassment of navigating modern-day relationships, uniquely told from the point of view of the three guys.
Genre: Comedy
Running Time: 95 minutes
Release Date: 13th Feb 2014

I first decided to catch this movie cause well, Zac Efron's in it. Not that I'm a huge fan of him but dammit, his body is freakkking hot especially after The Lucky One and the synopsis of the show sounds hilarious. 3 guys, saying no to dating, falling in love, having to hide from each other. It all just sounds like a huge big stupid idea that is bound to go wrong.
I have to say though, this movie is super sexually rated. No there's no nudity at all but there are a lot of funny sexual scenes. I had a really good laugh catching The Awkward Moment and I have to say, these 3 actors compensate each other really well. Its as though you're seriously watching 3 best friends, screwing their lives up and its really funny how much pride & ego they have when they're with each other but when in truth, they're all hopeless romantics when they are with the one they love.
I really really like how the romance blossomed for both Jason and Daniel. In a way it was a very expected romance but how the script was written, leading it up to the final stages of a serious relationship was very smooth and natural. Its not some cliche love story of boy meets girl.
This is definitely a good go to movie if you're up for some comedy. I wouldn't even call it a romance comedy because the romance factor is really really low. Its pretty subtle and I like how non cliche it is despite me being a hopeless romantic. Hey, you can't mix comedy and cliche cheesy stuffs together. It doesn't blend well! But Jason's really really sweet in the movie and I'm not going to tell you why cause you will have to catch it for yourself but pssst...who doesn't love a typical bad boy gone good especially when he has such a charming aura aye? ;) I literally went 'AWWW' at the end of the show!

'Endless Love' Movie Review

I'm a major sucker for romance. Nicholas Sparks novels and movies are always such a tear jerker for me and its movies like such I simply adore. As cliche as the story is - never ending love, the one, forever & always, etc etc, i adore how these movies are able to portray love as such an impactful strength and magic and how these stories brings out the best in love - something that this modern world society doesn't seem to have nor understand anymore.

Endless Love (PG 13)
Endless Love stars Alex Pettyfer (Magic Mike) and Gabriella Wilde (The Three Musketeers) in the story of a privileged girl and a charismatic boy whose instant desire sparks a love affair made only more reckless by parents trying to keep them apart.
Genre: Romantic Drama
Running Time: 105 minutes
Release Date: 13th Feb 2014

When I first saw the movie poster for Endless Love, I was like oh my god, I totally have to catch this because its definitely one of those epic love stories that every girl dreams of. I caught it on Valentine's Day and although it wasn't a major tear jerker, it was enough to warm my heart. A definite yes to all those love freaks out there.
Indeed it may be a very typical boy meets girl and falls madly in love story, I enjoy how strong the message of the never dying love of a young couple conquers through all madness even after years, is shown in this movie.
There's typical drama of parents thinking that the other half is not good enough for their own child, but I also enjoy the fact on how strongly the parents were a part of this story. Its amazing how the scriptwriters have wrote this movie in such a way where everyone is involved and I'm sorry I can't spill the beans much because it'll spoil everything for you.
I think what I really enjoyed about Endless Love is the fact that it felt very real. Its not that something like that had happened to me or what (I certainly hope it did, who doesn't?!), but how it revolves around 2 average students with typical real life families and friends and real life problems. Complete reality.
Movies such as The Notebook, The Vow, Dear John, etc, you know that it would never happen to you in reality. Or maybe, chances of that happening are slim. I could feel every anxiety and pain the characters were going through in Endless Love and obviously, Alex Pettyfer's character is totally dreamy. But of course with it being a typical Romeo & Juliet love story, this movie may come across as a little cheesy to those who aren't huge romantics.

So if you have yet to catch Endless Love, do catch it in the nearest theatre near you and of course for those who are attached, bring your boyfriends along so they can learn to be dreamy too heh.
"Endless Love means never wanting to let go."

The last post of 2013.

Its a few hours left to a brand new year! Its really common that at this point of time, everyone is busy thinking of their new year resolution but to be honest, how many of you can even remember what your new year resolution was last year? Well, I can't. Not even a tiny bit.

I know my new year resolutions have always been along the line of 'I'm going to be ultra skinny this year' or 'a new year is a new beginning' that kinda stuff. But i'll be really enthusiastic about it for a week and I will completely forget about my resolution afterwards. Hey, admit it. Many of you are like that.

Time seriously waits for no one. Looking back and reflecting on what I've accomplished in 2013, I don't think I've achieved anything much. I've graduated from Ngee Ann Polytechnic. Changed jobs like thrice. Finally launched eatvoguelove and finally am stable in a job that I like. There are so many other milestones to complete and its scary growing up. It used to be really fun when I was little but now its just filled with survival skills and bills to pay.

I spent my new year at Zouk last year with a couple of whacky friends. I remember that that was my first countdown at a club and at 11.45pm, my friends and I ran from the bridge to Zouk just in time for the countdown and after the countdown, we strolled back to the bridge to finish up our drinks. It was really silly but a very memorable event.

This year, I've been sooo busy that I completely forgot that New Year's Eve is today. Didn't make any plans nor have any intentions to get crazy and high either. I know I'm only 20 but I feel like I'm 60 inside. Even my mum is heading to Clarke Quay to have fun with her girlfriends. *yikes.

In the end, the boy and I will probably end up cooking at home, sipping wine while catching a movie - the very relaxed life while everyone is partying and boozing away. I think this life suits me more now. I'll probably fall asleep on the dance floor if I'm at Zouk this year. Haha!

I have sooo many posts to update on eatvoguelove but I haven't had the time to do so cause ChicKissLove has been keeping me really busy. So here's a new year resolution 2014: Update Eatvoguelove more & to have a evl fanbase! (I promise I'll really keep this new year resolution this time!!)

Happy New Year guys!
May all your dreams & wishes come true.

Ps: I have unicorn mermaid hair now. So your wishes are bound to come true.
Xoxo,
